Connection,Contacts & Human Network

Posted on Feb 27th, 2009 by Aditya : Desciple of Existence Aditya

As we go about our day, we meet many people on our way. Some very influential, others appearing ordinary.

We chat, enquire about their personal-professional whereabouts, and exchange business cards, usually with self interests- consciously or unconsciously

Most of the times, majority of us pursue those who we think would make difference to our lives, some or the other way. We try to maintain proximity with vested interests in our minds.

While visualizing them as a potential source of benefit, what most of us tend to miss is the genuine connection that we humans are blessed to establish with our fellow humans. As our ears become receptive only to those keywords which our associated with ‘what’s in it for me?’ dictionary that we carefully preserve, we turn our back to the bonding points which could result in  long-lasting human connection whose consequence may be more enriching for the parties involved, elevating them to their next personal, professional & spiritual level.

Seamless Connection is established when only thing expected, is sheer joy of connecting to another human port keeping aside the benefit-centric mindset.

To establish the connections ,we need to listen. We, seldom, fully concentrate on what the other person is trying to say. Most of the times we are busy preparing for an answer, of a question we are less keen to hear, an answer which will make us look  & sound good. By doing so we tend to miss beautiful garden in search of bushes. Although we  manage for a contact number but miss the bond. This happens because we pretend to be hearing when Active listening is required.

The word ‘Fast’ has actually slowed our concern levels.

Technology has a role to play.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every time we choose to dial a friend, sitting in a park, as it has become convenient and cheap too, we miss a chance to meet new people, being open to new views, ideas & possibly great conversations. We fail to see, enjoy & appreciate the connecting links which eventually contribute in building an individual legacy.

Contacts have validity while connections are long-lasting & heartening. Connections lead to ‘win-win’ for the people involved.

To see how much you score on the ‘Connection Quotient ‘scroll down contacts directory/address book of your latest communication device and realize for yourself while technology enables you to make contact with everyone on the list, with how many you can really connect.

While technology claims to be  connecting people, it’s high  time we realize that technology, material things are to be used and people are to be loved rather than converse to be true.

As technologists are busy creating 4G, blue-ray, high definition devices to enhance your life, you make sure you have a high speed interface port ,open connecting you to a human nearby.

Technology is meant to enhance life not overwhelm it.

Outlead

Posted on Feb 27th, 2009 by Aditya : Desciple of Existence Aditya

In one of my previous blogs I have mentioned about reengineering the definitions of success and many other .

And this wish has been granted. Change agent is Malcolm gladwell.

I am referring to his new masterpiece ‘outliers’ which redefines ,explores the age-old definitions. He amazes us with his out of the world insights just like his previous works.(Blink & Tipping Point)

His findings are mind opening yet simple, understandable, straight to the point and I think that’s what a genuine leader does.

He grants his followers with the new vantage points from where they see things, definitions, preconceived notions in new light. He not only shares a new vision but provides pragmatic thinking for his tribe to experience it themselves in real world.

Leader looks for the possibilities, solutions when others are busy analyzing the existing limitations. He chooses to light a candle rather than spending the time and energy cursing the darkness.

He comes out with new solutions, new way of doing things. He sees what others can’t even imagine/think in their wildest of ‘out –of –the-box’ and /or ‘innovation’ sessions.

He dares to ask the two most frightful questions many of us try to shun…………………

1.why ?

2.why not ?

Genuine leadership looks around, questions the extant conditions, beliefs, way of doing things and asks why? And then uses the power of imagination and dedicates himself/herself in the search of better way of thinking, doing and seeing things, comes out with alternatives and asks why not? & before making it available to tribe , tests them for their expediency.

Thus leader provokes & instills a new thought process which encourages more thoughts and create more thinking heads, and new breed of thinkers & impending leaders..

Lead from Front

As  a Leadership observer, thinker ; i look, understand, appreciate the brave acts of leadership.
One recent act of brave Leadership was shown by Mr. Hemant Karkare, Chief, of Anti terrorist Squad(ATS), when mumbai's prime locations turned in to a battlefield, in recent terrorists attack. He could have sat in his comfy office & directed his officials how to tackle the issue. But he chose to lead from the front, be with his officers to assure confidence in them, to motivate them, to create a Wow ! feeling in them that their chief is next to them on the ground.

Unfortunately,  this Leader laid his life along with his top officers Mr.Vijay salskar & Mr. Ashok Kamte & few more  ground officers so that all residents of mumbai (including me ) and all those who were there in the two hotels (Taj & Oberoi), on roads, could see one more day of their lives, although he himself could not.

As i scribble this few more Leaders (NSG Commandos, Local Police) continue their operations carrying the torch handed over to them so that darkness, evil thinking in its modern form (terrorism) can be defeated.

Amongst the war-zone, under extreme conditions , a Leader does what he must, he does what is right than what is safe.

Kudos !
