As we go about our day, we meet many people on our way. Some very influential, others appearing ordinary.

We chat, enquire about their personal-professional whereabouts, and exchange business cards, usually with self interests- consciously or unconsciously

Most of the times, majority of us pursue those who we think would make difference to our lives, some or the other way. We try to maintain proximity with vested interests in our minds.

While visualizing them as a potential source of benefit, what most of us tend to miss is the genuine connection that we humans are blessed to establish with our fellow humans. As our ears become receptive only to those keywords which our associated with ‘what’s in it for me?’ dictionary that we carefully preserve, we turn our back to the bonding points which could result in long-lasting human connection whose consequence may be more enriching for the parties involved, elevating them to their next personal, professional & spiritual level.

Seamless Connection is established when only thing expected, is sheer joy of connecting to another human port keeping aside the benefit-centric mindset.

To establish the connections ,we need to listen. We, seldom, fully concentrate on what the other person is trying to say. Most of the times we are busy preparing for an answer, of a question we are less keen to hear, an answer which will make us look & sound good. By doing so we tend to miss beautiful garden in search of bushes. Although we manage for a contact number but miss the bond. This happens because we pretend to be hearing when Active listening is required.

The word ‘Fast’ has actually slowed our concern levels.

Technology has a role to play.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every time we choose to dial a friend, sitting in a park, as it has become convenient and cheap too, we miss a chance to meet new people, being open to new views, ideas & possibly great conversations. We fail to see, enjoy & appreciate the connecting links which eventually contribute in building an individual legacy.

Contacts have validity while connections are long-lasting & heartening. Connections lead to ‘win-win’ for the people involved.

To see how much you score on the ‘Connection Quotient ‘scroll down contacts directory/address book of your latest communication device and realize for yourself while technology enables you to make contact with everyone on the list, with how many you can really connect.

While technology claims to be connecting people, it’s high time we realize that technology, material things are to be used and people are to be loved rather than converse to be true.

As technologists are busy creating 4G, blue-ray, high definition devices to enhance your life, you make sure you have a high speed interface port ,open connecting you to a human nearby.

Technology is meant to enhance life not overwhelm it.

In one of my previous blogs I have mentioned about reengineering the definitions of success and many other .

And this wish has been granted. Change agent is Malcolm gladwell.

I am referring to his new masterpiece ‘outliers’ which redefines ,explores the age-old definitions. He amazes us with his out of the world insights just like his previous works.(Blink & Tipping Point)

His findings are mind opening yet simple, understandable, straight to the point and I think that’s what a genuine leader does.

He grants his followers with the new vantage points from where they see things, definitions, preconceived notions in new light. He not only shares a new vision but provides pragmatic thinking for his tribe to experience it themselves in real world.

Leader looks for the possibilities, solutions when others are busy analyzing the existing limitations. He chooses to light a candle rather than spending the time and energy cursing the darkness.

He comes out with new solutions, new way of doing things. He sees what others can’t even imagine/think in their wildest of ‘out –of –the-box’ and /or ‘innovation’ sessions.

He dares to ask the two most frightful questions many of us try to shun…………………

1.why ?

2.why not ?

Genuine leadership looks around, questions the extant conditions, beliefs, way of doing things and asks why? And then uses the power of imagination and dedicates himself/herself in the search of better way of thinking, doing and seeing things, comes out with alternatives and asks why not? & before making it available to tribe , tests them for their expediency.

Thus leader provokes & instills a new thought process which encourages more thoughts and create more thinking heads, and new breed of thinkers & impending leaders..

As a Leadership observer, thinker ; i look, understand, appreciate the brave acts of leadership.
One recent act of brave Leadership was shown by Mr. Hemant Karkare, Chief, of Anti terrorist Squad(ATS), when mumbai's prime locations turned in to a battlefield, in recent terrorists attack. He could have sat in his comfy office & directed his officials how to tackle the issue. But he chose to lead from the front, be with his officers to assure confidence in them, to motivate them, to create a Wow ! feeling in them that their chief is next to them on the ground.

Unfortunately, this Leader laid his life along with his top officers Mr.Vijay salskar & Mr. Ashok Kamte & few more ground officers so that all residents of mumbai (including me ) and all those who were there in the two hotels (Taj & Oberoi), on roads, could see one more day of their lives, although he himself could not.

As i scribble this few more Leaders (NSG Commandos, Local Police) continue their operations carrying the torch handed over to them so that darkness, evil thinking in its modern form (terrorism) can be defeated.

Amongst the war-zone, under extreme conditions , a Leader does what he must, he does what is right than what is safe.

Kudos !

People whom i have had conversations with, call me a philosopher.

Most of the times its a praise. But when its not,my answer follows :

"Thank you. I love being called a philospoher, for the very reason that life itself is a philosophy.[Greek: related to *philo-, sophia wisdom] & we all are its disciples.

All of us have an innate, unique philosopher's stone, which each one of has to seek as a part of our individual quest for meaning.

Once sought, this supreme object of alchemy has to be exercised to take the

existential transfomation to the next level & to help other fellow-philospohers find their own stone.

Each one of us is a philosopher at living and our greatest Philosophy is our own Life.

Let us Philosophize (craft) it so well that it oscillates at its highest level and and

we live our lives as its meant to be." Magnificent.

As far as I understand one can't lead by hitting people on their heads. The only way to lead and become powerful is to give power to people you are leading. One has to not just cast his vision to his team but also share the vision too. So that more people, more energy is channelized towards achieving your vision. Share your vision, your passion to all around you and just watch the magic unfold. Allow people to lead, express, engage and to be creative. Delegate power not just responsibility. Stand for people and they will stand for you when you need them the most. Very Simple.

The Laws of life are very simple: The more u give; the more you get (Give just for the joy of giving; not to expect gratitude).Nature bestows its best on those who are very generous towards others.

as

"It’s the best five players that win the game, not the five best players." -Richard Kovacevich

Positive Vibes and Regards,
Aditya

Our Definitions of success and failure needs deep introspection.
They need to be refined. We see things as we label it,because we judge almost everything.
But by slightly adjusting the outlook towards any event we can turn darkness into light.

We all fail and fall, personally and professionally. some feel frustated , some bounce back with more vigor and effort.
These are very people who see a seed of opportunity in every adversity.we all can turn this failure into a success by understanig the failure ,its causes, and the lessons that can be learnt from it to avoid the same in future,Failure ,Fall makes us realize our true potential and scope for improvement.Life also follows the Risk- return rule ,higher the risk, more are the returns.
Likewise, greater the fall, higher the rise.A fall from fifth floor would hurt as much as a fall from hundredth floor, then why not fall from 100 th floor and rise higher and expand personal limits and get closer to our maginificent life.

Behind every successful person, there are sevearal unsuccessful years.
So if you are undergoing these years, start celebrating because you are about to become the next success story.

Spent weekend away from the bustle of city life.
Drenched my self in the peace, serenity showered by mother nature on the outskirts of mumbai.

when i was having a conversation with my friend's mother sitting on the stairs of a temple, a young, bright girl approached us with flowers in her hand, which are offered to the local deity.
Since we did not want it, we asked her to go. but she did not.
She kept on convincing us to buy them. we really did not want it.
But, respecting her selling skills, decided to give her the money worth the flower without taking the flower. Did so and requested her to go and sell it to someone else so that she could make some extra money that day.

Even after repeatedly asking she did not move.
She hesitated.She apeared surprised, confused.

But she moved us ,certainly with her act. I could make out the reason from her innocent face.

She knew that its unethical to take money without offering the service.

she stood there for a long time.we were taken aback by her simplicity and self respect.
she might never get to see the business school ,not even have her primary education.but she has learnt the fundamentals of business. She might never know what "Best Practices" means, without realizing she is following them in her own small business.

I am overwhelmed by the fact that at such a young age,she maintains high level of intellectual integrity.
she knows her business and life well.
Closing here ,wishing that flower the very best.
May she bloom and her fragrance be smelt by the world.

i felt like writing this because i somehow remembered a news clip which i saw sometime back.i took long to write this because i wanted the message to be very clear.

In some tier II city of India, a kind and wise man in his sixties nearing his seventies teaches very young children to swim. He's been doing this since past many years with the same zeal and passion he had doing it for the very first time.

Somehow these efforts were recognized and appreciated by the local authority and state government decided to felicitate this simple man who is relentlessly living his living at his highest potential by offering his service, expertise to next generation.

When he came to know about this he, very humbly, respecting the state government, refused to accept this award.

All of you Will be surprised to know what reason he gave for not accepting any award. Because he also lives in the same world where peole are using other people so they move forward in their careers, doing the things they do hoping someday the society will reward them for their efforts.

Here's what he said, " If i accept this award or any other award for the work i am doing; i will loose the eternal joy and happiness that i get from my work."

Simply Excellent . Isn't he? He's True Alchemist.
Shaping those young children (base metal) into great swimmers of tomorrow (gold).

How often do we get to hear about such People?
I am glad that i did.
This excellence comes from the inner simplicity and beauty of thoughts.

He may not be a millionaire, a celebrity but over the years he has acquired a wealth which very few people can even think of doing.

This innate simplicity does not necessarily come by living below one's means, detachment from the material world, which most people think.

Its good to be successful ,wealthy and very famous. One can wear gucci, prada & drive Ferrari and still maintain such simplicity and humility in thoughts and actions.
And by being simple , one exhibits the Excellence in every gesture.Though it sounds very simple,Being Genuinely simple is one of the complex business on the face of this earth.

Be simple. Exuberate Excellence.

What's Your GDH ?

Well, i am sure for most of you GDH is Alien.
what if i ask, Whats the GDP ? In some other countries, GNP.
Most would be able to answer it.

GDH stands for Gross Domestic Happiness.

In our so called busy lives ,we tend to forget what exactly are we working for.
we read magazines to keep ourselves one step ahead the competition.we get acquainted with various financial, economic indicators. we know what GDP/GNP is, what is the P/E Ratio of the stock and we get so engrossed and used to our routine that we simply ignore our physical and emotional well being. We all give an simple excuse - lack of time.

If that excuse is real (most of the time it's not ), then its time to manage your time.Time to pause and look back and re-engineer your Life process. All i am asking you, inviting you to do is to keep a meeting with yourself every weekend .Reflect on the week that you have spent and review it and just see how can the work - life balance was, is there anything to be improved both at office and home as well, how much quality time did u spend with you kids and family.Because your GDH depends on it.

A simple way to do this is listing out 10 things that give you the most joy and see out of those 10 things how many things did you manage to do and rate yourself on scale of 1 to 10 and review if you are nearing to 10 every week.If you do so ;COnsider yourself the happiest person on the face of this earth and make merry and bask in the glory that your HQ (Hapiness Quotient ) is more than your IQ and EQ together.

So create this one more indicator, may be the most important indicator and Keep a Check on it.This is perhaps the best indicator of the quality of your life.

MAY THE INFINITE HAPINESS BE WITH YOU. ALWAYS.
